Dancing with Every Situation

At the age of 3, I was on the way to the dentist, and I passed the church where they held a community ballet class and said to my mother – I want to do that! Since then, dancing has been a big part of my life, and I’ve been delving into many many different modes and forms. It gives me a space where I can feel in connection with others, while also feeling a sense of connection to myself.

In situations when I’m challenged, I also start to think about dancing. I say to myself, how could I dance with this situation?

It isn’t really about steps or styles or copying each other. It’s about a resilience to respond to each situation – finding your own rhythm to communicate with the other rhythms, even if it means going against them sometimes.

In our group bodywork/movement classes we use connected touch and free movement together to remember our unique ways of responding to every moment. We find ways to let go and be creative about the space around us, while acknowledging what’s happening in our body, our thoughts and our emotions. It’s about seeing your strength not as how much muscle you have, but how you can use them to respond intelligently and in relation to your own limits, remembering how much pleasure there is in using our inner strength. It’s a rich resource to have in every situation.

OK… I’m imperfect!!!!!!!

I graduated last month, and am realising how much loaded expectation I am putting on myself to be perfect.

It’s true that I had an intensive and deep training and am now officially fully certified and yes I’m ready to rock!!… But there are times that I feel as if I don’t know anything.  But as I keep confronting this feeling of not knowing, I feel more and more clear and ready to respond to another’s situation. I keep going. I find I want to be deeply honest about my own limits and be open about them. The process of learning about oneself through transformation is surely one of a lifetime, whether that is my own journey, or that of one of my clients.

When meeting each client in a session, I feel honoured to be able to support their heart’s journey as they make their own way through life. If I can be open and honest, then all I have to do is very simple… just be ready with all I have, so I can be fully present for you, my client.

I really look forward to meeting you fully – all of who you can manage to be – perfectly imperfectly perfect.

A Journey to connect Body and Words

A personal story of coming to find The Pantarei Approach

I really want to share my journey of how I came to this work, as I hope it may give you a way in to understand the benefits of the work for yourself. It’s also a way to introduce myself as a practitioner so you might get a window into my personal world.

Before I started this work, I felt there was something missing in the way I was dealing with life…   I had periods of time where I would feel sadness as a feeling that would not go away.  I went about finding where I could get some support in dealing with this.

I had heard of many methods, some involving more body-based approaches, and some were talking approaches, and some used both.  For me, I decided on an approach which involved both words and body – because I felt that including both of these areas made sense to me  – I knew I couldn’t live my life without my body, and I knew I could share more of myself with others if I could articulate myself clearer with words.

When I started having sessions myself, I found that I could look clearer at what emotions I was experiencing and what ideas I was holding onto, and when I was feeling more free to be myself.

Having someone there to help me articulate and support my experience in words gave me more ownership over my experience. This gave me back a lot of energy which I could direct towards what I actually wanted in life. Working on this through the body gave me a way to practice it tangibly and step by step, so that I could access that experience more easily in daily life.

Now I can continue to tap into more of this freedom, courage and compassion to be myself and to give others space to be themselves too.  It’s much easier to deal with the challenges and the opportunities in life.  I find each day there are more chances for ease, curiosity and joy…!
